If anybody in your home tends to have bloody noses, then you know how frustrating it can be to try to get blood stains out of clothing and fabric. I think I've finally found the pretreat process to deal with these horrific stains!
This fall has been pretty brutal so far and Big D has been having regular nose bleeds. Last week was exceptional (in a bad way)!
A bad bloody nose + Ferocious sneezing = Impossible blood-sprayed bed sheets.
In the past I've immediately treated blood stains with hydrogen peroxide. Most of the time it works but sometimes I have to treat it twice. This time with such a large area to cover, I wanted to try to get the stains out the first time. I was beyond thrilled with my results. Here's what I did:
1. Drizzled hydrogen peroxide over all of the bloody spots and let it fizzle out
2. Rinse with water
3. Scrub with Shout Gel (the bottle with the scrubby brush on the end) and leave it on the stains then,
4. Sprinkle with homemade laundry detergent. (I use a this fabulous recipe I found on Pinterest. Click here to link to the blog with the exact amounts. The main ingredients are: Borax, Baking Soda, Super Wash Soda, and Oxy Clean.)
5. Add an extra scoop of the homemade laundry detergent to the machine and wash.
Just for the sake of clarification, I do have a front load, HE Washer and the detergent does fine in the machine. I've only ever put it in the drum with the laundry and never through the drawer dispenser.
